ABOUT THE PUTNAM ARTS COUNCIL

The Putnam Arts Council (PAC) is an appointed council of electors comprised of citizen artists, educators, and art enthusiasts. The mission of the PAC is to grow and support the creative and cultural sectors in Putnam to the benefit of a healthier, stronger community and more whole and sustainable economy.
The PAC will achieve its mission by:

  • Promoting the arts community.

  • Supporting local artists of all media.

  • Pursuing ways to create a more artistically vibrant area.

  • Celebrating the creative community as an economic force.

  • Educating on the benefits of the creative sector.

  • Increasing access to the arts for the Greater  Putnam community.

  • Supporting cultural events.

The PAC will also serve as a liaison between the arts and businesses, government, and educational institutions.
We believe that by following the mission and the steps laid out we will enhance cultural development, quality of life, and the economic vitality of Putnam.

SCHOLARSHIPS & GRANTS

We are currently accepting applications for their first annual round of Scholarships and Grants available to Putnam students and businesses. 

APPLICATION DEADLINE: November 30, 2024 for businesses, December 15, 2024 for students

AWARD DATE: Early January 2025

STUDENTS - If you are a resident of Putnam who is currently pursuing an education of any level, you are eligible for up to $500 in scholarship assistance. The intention of the scholarship is to help you invest in yourself to further your study of any art-related discipline. The scholarship may be used towards public or private education, or towards a class, workshop, etc. outside of an educational institution.

BUSINESSES - If you are a business located in the Putnam community you are eligible for a grant of up to $500. The grant will be awarded to one proposal for an art-related class, project, etc. that will benefit the Putnam community. Applications should be filled out by one individual representing the Putnam business.

MEETINGS

The meetings are open to the public and occur every fourth Monday of the month at the Putnam Municipal Complex, in the Community Room 112, 200 School Street, Putnam CT  06260 @ 5:30 p.m.
